On Friday 28 October 2022, the Energy Administrators of Bulb Energy Ltd (in Energy Supply Company Administration) (“Bulb”) agreed to sell certain business assets, including its book of energy customers to Octopus Energy group. Upon completion, certain contractual agreements will be transferred to the newly formed Bulb UK Operations Limited, which will subsequently be acquired by Octopus Energy Retail 2022 Limited – part of the Octopus Energy group. The sale will be implemented using a statutory process known as an “Energy Transfer Scheme” (the “Transfer”) for which the official letter of notice is attached. This Transfer is conditional upon the approval of the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (“BEIS”). It is currently anticipated that the Scheme will be considered by the Court at a hearing on 11th November 2022 and that the Transfer will become effective on 15th November 2022.
